Introduction
Enderal is a total conversion mod of Skyrim. Total conversion meaning this mod doesn’t simply alter the original game but literally moves it aside, essentially creating an entirely new one. Enderal is a new world with new quests, new magic, many new assets and it has nothing to do with Skyrim or The Elder Scrolls. It’s a beautiful, self contained experience, free of charge.
Enderal is the third in its series. The first being Arktwend and Myar Aranath, a total conversion mod pair of Morrowind. The second, Nehrim, a total conversation mod of Oblivion. Guides for these games will be created as well.
This guide is going to cover how to install and uninstall Enderal. It will benefit Manual user’s, Nexus Mod Manager and Mod Organizer users. N.M.M. users will learn how to build upon the manual method to add and remove mods but will still launch Enderal manually. However, due to it’s nature, even if you don’t use Mod Organizer for Skyrim it is highly recommended to use it for Enderal. The way in which M.O. is used will require some extra storage space and knowledge but it’s going to be the simplest and most convenient way to play Enderal. While navigation is provided to skip sections of disconcern digesting the entire video should even help all install Enderal to Nexus Vortex. Though, I obviously can’t show you exactly how to install Enderal for something that doesn’t exist yet… or can I?

PreInstallation
Software
- Skyrim: Skyrim is the foundation of Enderal. You cannot use Enderal without it. Here is our installation video
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5: If you don’t have this installed a link can be found both in the description as well as on the Enderal page itself, which will be shown during the Installation section of this video.
- Unless you are going to use Mod Organizer you need to deactivate your ENB graphical presets. ENB presets that are not specifically designed for Enderal, and perhaps even some that are, may causes oddities and have been known to disable in-game videos. However, instead of deleting all of the ENB files, or even moving them to a different folder, you can simply open the ENBLocal.ini file. Locate the setting UseSpeedHackWithoutGraphics. Set it’s value to True. Save the changes. Doing this will turn off all of the graphical elements in ENB but will still allow you to use ENBoost.

Minimum Requirement: 13GB of free disk space.
Recommended Minimum: 40GB of free disk space.- Navigate to Enderal.com. Select the System requirements button. Select Installation package. Unless you are comfortable using Torrents select Download – NexusMods.com. Leave Enderal.com open. At the, Enderal – English Version, nexus page open the Files section. Select download manually beneath the most recent Enderal – English Main file. The file will download to your systems default location. Use the pause button and allow the download to finish.
- After the file is downloaded go back to Enderal.com. Select Launcher. Select the Enderal Launcher link to the right. If a security warning opens agree to all options. The Launcher will download to the same location as the archive did.
- Locate the Enderal Launcher and the EnderalInstallEnglish.gz just downloaded. In a second window navigate to SteamsteamappscommonSkyrim or Skyrim – copy if one was created during PreInstallation. Cut and Paste the Launcher and Archive into the folder.
- Double-click the Enderal Launcher.exe . At the security window select Run. At the Enderal Launcher EN window select OK. If another security window opens select Run. Read the text file and or close it. Select Start Enderal.
- At the Enderal Launcher menu select Install Enderal. Read the warning box that opens. Click on it to close it. Select Accept. From the following window select Install Enderal. Since this is our first time installing Enderal activate the option for Enderal installation file. We will cover the other option in the Reverting Back to Skyrim section. Select Next.
- At the Backup Directory window leave everything as is. Select Next. At the Summary Installation window select Start Installation. This process took roughly the same amount of time as it did for me to download the Enderal archive. Times will vary. Once the process is complete select Close installation.
- From the right of the launcher window, select Update. Select the Update Box, which bears the current update version. Again, this may take a few minutes. When finished a confirmation window will open. Select OK. The Enderal Launcher will restart itself.
- Non-MO users: leave the backup alone. Do not delete it. Do not delete any files in it. Do not move any files around within. You will need this to reinstall Skyrim if you want to play it again while having all of your mods, settings and save files intact.
- Mod Organizer users: delete Enderal’s backup folder. The backup is of your Skyrim – copy folder, which we are in. It will do nothing except take up disk space. Remember that your original Skyrim game folder is still intact and completely untouched.
Graphics card and resolution
– One Tweak: is the actual One Tweak mod, which comes prepackaged with Enderal. A link to One Tweak has been provided for reference.
– Aspect Ratio: Only available to change once One Tweak is selected. Displays the proportional relationship between your monitors width & height. If your monitors ratio is not present set this to User-defined.
– Resolution: Only available to change once One Tweak is selected. Set to the highest resolution that your monitor can handle. Lower the resolution to trade quality for better performance. You can manually type in a value if your monitor’s resolution is not present.
– Antialiasing: Directly related to the jagged and crawling lines at the edges of objects. It is recommended to be left at the default value of 2x but feel free to test options. If using an Enderal specific ENB graphical preset set to Off (best performance).
– Anisotropic filters: Directly affects texture clarity that is displayed at an angle on screen. It is recommended to be left at the default value of 4x but feel welcome to test other options. If using an Enderal specific ENB graphical preset set to Off (best performance).
– Windowed mode: if activated, Enderal will be run in a window on the Desktop as opposed to utilizing the entire screen. This allows you to maintain a sharp in-game image while running the game lower than your monitor’s native resolution. However, many have had graphical oddities with this option enabled as well as in-game videos not displaying correctly. I have Windowed Mode deactivated.
– Vsync: if activated, V-Sync will cap your maximum FPS to your monitor’s Refresh Rate to avoid screen tearing. I have Vertical Sync activated.Graphics Quality
Choosing the Very low, Low, Medium, High, or Very High option will implement a preset of values for all of the options within Settings. A general overview of each option is been cycling through on screen to help give you an idea of the visual differences. Very low being the most performance friendly. Very High being the most performance intensive. I’d suggest to test them out, return and adjust accordingly.Details
– Textures: Affects the depth and detail of all textures. I set this to High.
– Blur quality: Affects the amount of blur during situations such as being struck in battle. I set this to Low.
– Shadow details: Determines the overall resolution of shadows cast in game. I set this to High.
– Decal count: Affects the number of decals such as dirt, blood and scorch marks.
– FXAA: Subtly blurs all game images to help compensate for jaggedness and other undesirable effects. Can be offset with ENB LOD Bias within the ENBLocal.ini is using a preset. Less performance heavy than AA if used by itself but can be used in conjunction with all forms of AA. I truly have no preference here. If you don’t see a difference deactivate it to save some performance.Water Details
– Reflect ground: Determines whether or not water will display land reflections. I activate the checkbox.
– Reflect trees: Determines whether or not water will display tree reflections. I activate the checkbox.
– Reflect objects: Determines whether or not water will display object reflections. I activate the checkbox.
– Reflect sky: Determines whether or not water will display sky reflections. I have no set preference here.Autosave
– Time Interval: unless the deactivated option is chosen, the game will create an additional/new save file when the specified amount of time has passed.
– Save while resting: toggles the auto-save function of the game when resting.
– Save while waiting: toggles the auto-save function of the game when waiting.Gameplay
– Kill cams: toggles the cinematic kill-cam feature off and on.
– Difficulty: controls the overall difficulty of defending from and doing damage to enemies.Interface
– Show dialogue subtitles: toggles the visibility of subtitles for NPCs who are talking directly to you.
– Show common subtitles: toggles the visibility of subtitles for NPCs who are not talking directly to you.
– Show crosshair: toggles the crosshair, used when activating and aiming, off and on.
– HUD visibility: determines the level of transparency of all Heads Up Display elements. I set this to 75.INI Files / Saves / Log
– Skyrim.ini & SkyrimPrefs.ini: these are also Enderal’s .ini files. Changing your .ini’s here will effectively change the .ini files located in your My Games directory. However, because Enderal has made a backup of Skyrim during installation you can change these settings without worry as the .ini’s were also backed up.
– Save game directory: Opens the directory where all of your save games will be, which, will be in the same location as the Skyrim saves.
– Launcher Log: opens a text log regarding Enderal’s Launcher.Screenshots
– Screenshots: toggles the ability to use the Printscreen key to take screenshots.
– Screenshot Index: I honestly have no clue. I’ll add this to the pinned comment if someone tells me.Application
– Launch Steam at Launcher start: if activated, will launch Steam when you open the Enderal Launcher to avoid having to do it manually as the the game won’t work with it closed.
– Close Launcher after game start: if activated, will close the Launcher Menu after the game launches so that it’s not lingering in background.- Now… install Mod Organizer. Download it manually from it’s official page. Launch the installer. When you arrive at the Install location section of the installer navigate to and choose the Enderal folder that we created:
SteamsteamappscommonEnderal
- Once Mod Organizer is installed open the Enderal folder. Open the Mod Organizer folder that we just installed here. Open Profiles. Open Default. On your Desktop, select the Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini files that we placed a short while ago. Drag them into the Default folder, overwriting the .ini files that are there. This assures that our settings, as well as Enderal specific settings needed for the game to run, will be implemented across all profiles until we decide to edit them later on within Mod Organizer itself. Again, this needs to be done due to adjusting our settings, in the Settings section, before we installed this copy of Mod Organizer. We will never have to copy and paste these files again.Note: From here forward, changing the .ini files in the Enderal Launcher will also change the files in Mod Organizer itself. This means that you can edit them from either the Enderal Launcher or the Mod Organizer .ini’s and they will save and be applied in both places.
- Launch Mod Organizer. Once open select the Configure Profiles, “ID icon”, at the top. Highlight the Default profile. Select Copy. Name the new profile accordingly. Select OK. Being sure that the new Enderal profile is highlighted within the Profiles selection window. Activate the check-boxes for Automatic Archive Invalidation and Local Saves. Select Close.
- From the Profile Drop-down menu select the new Enderal profile.
- In M.O’s right pane open the Archives tab. Activate the checkbox Have MO manage archives. Look below and be sure that every single .bsa checkbox is also activated. Without doing this none of Enderal’s assets will be installed.
- If you want to use mods that you have already downloaded for Skyrim with Enderal without having to redownload them, as some of them will in fact work, open Settings, the “Tools icon”. Activate the Advanced checkbox. Select the ellipses to the right of the Download Directory field. Navigate to and open the Mod Organizer folder that you are using for Skyrim. If following GamerPoets guides it will be located within the Skyrim game folder. Advanced Skyrim M.O. users may have created a custom destination.Skyrim players who use Nexus Mod Manager, and even manual users, navigate to wherever it is that you save your archives.Highlight the archive storage folder, whatever it’s name is. Choose Select Folder. At the Settings window select OK. Open the Downloads tab at the right of M.O. and you will be able to see and select any of the mod archives here for installation to Enderal. Refresh or close and reopen Mod Organizer if you don’t see them.
- Finally, open the Modify Executables window, “Gears Icon”, at the top. In the Title field type Enderal. To the right of the Binary field select the Ellipses. Navigate to our Enderal game folder. Double-click the Enderal Launcher.exe. Select Add. Select Close. From the drop-down menu next to the RUN button select Enderal. RUN it. You can now launch the game via Enderal’s Launcher through Mod Organizer. This is where you will launch Enderal when playing it to assure that it uses the .ini file settings from within MO as well as to implement any mods you have installed.
- To Delete Enderal in it’s entirety from your system: Choose the Delete Enderal option. Be sure to only do so if you plan to never play it again.
- Archive Enderal. Choose this option if you plan on switching back to Enderal at some point in the future. This option will switch out the Skyrim backup with a backup of your current Enderal setup.
Warning
Even if you don’t use Mod Organizer for Skyrim I strongly suggest that you use it for Enderal. Yes, there are still things that you will have to learn if you only use it for Enderal. However, using M.O. is the only way to have both Enderal and Skyrim installed and playable at the same time. Without Mod Organizer the two must be installed independently from one another as will be made clear at the end of the Installation section.
Those who simply cannot be bother with Mod Organizer, or those who use Mod Organizer but will never play Skyrim, skip to the Installation section of this guide. Understand that continuing forward from this point will temporarily render Skyrim unplayable. It’s an easy process to revert Enderal to back to Skyrim it just takes a little bit of time as shown in the Reverting Back to Skyrim section.
Warning Heeded
Those who have opted to use Mod Organizer, and who want both Skyrim and Enderal to be playable at the same time:
Navigate to:
Steamsteamappscommon
Right-click the Skyrim folder. Copy it. Paste it into this same folder that we are copying it from. This process will take some time to complete. The copy and pasted folder will be named Skyrim – copy by default. Leave the name alone for now. This is going to be our Enderal install folder.
For those who want to save disk space open the Skyrim – copy folder. Delete folders and files that have nothing to do with vanilla Skyrim, including the Dawnguard, HearthFire and Dragonborn files in the Data folder. Nanna telugu hd movie download. If you aren’t sure what a file is leave it alone.
One thing that you do need to deactivate in the Skyrim – copy folder, if you have it, is your ENB graphical preset. I didn’t want you to do this with the others a short while ago because you would have also deactivate it for Skyrim itself. Open your ENBLocal.ini file. Locate the setting UseSpeedHackWithoutGraphics. Set it’s value to True. Save the changes.
Remember, everything here is a duplicate of the contents in your original Skyrim game folder. Skyrim itself will remain untouched. All of your files will remain safe and sound throughout this entire guide regardless of what you do to or in the Skyrim – copy folder.
Installation
Enderal Installation
Enderal is now installed to your system.
Backup Folder Note
Whether you installed the game to the Skyrim folder or the Skyrim – copy folder you will notice that there is now a backup folder inside. Enderal has backed up and moved your Skyrim installation here. This is why Non-Mod Organizer users can only play one of them at a time.
If you open the original game folders Data folder you will notice that the DLC and other files have been replaced with Enderal files. As mentioned, during the PreInstallation Warning section, Skyrim and Enderal must be installed independently from one another. Uninstalling Enderal via the Enderal Launcher menu will reinstall your Skyrim setup. At which point Enderal will be placed into the backup folder in the case that you want to play Enderal again. You will have to constantly switch back and forth between the two, reinstalling and uninstalling, depending on which game, Enderal or Skyrim, you want to play. This will be covered in full in the Reverting Back to Skyrim section.
Settings
Before playing the game you’ll want to adjust Enderal’s Settings according to your system and or preference. You may also want to come back and readjust them after testing the game. For those who don’t care to see visual comparisons of each setting or to hear about what each setting does, skip ahead to either the Mod Organizer Users or Nexus Mod Manager Users section of the guide.
From the Launcher Menu open Settings.

After testing (adding an ENB preset and or other mods) I generally adjust the following settings in opposition to what I mention within. You may even want to adjust some of the previous settings as well if you require better performance.
– Overall draw distance: Controls the overall draw distance of all aspects of the game. I set this to 15.
– Actor draw distance: Controls the distance at which characters and creatures can be seen. I start testing with this set to 8.

– Light draw distance: Controls the distance at which lighting is cast from dynamic sources. I start with this set to 17.
– Grass draw distance: Controls the amount and distance at which grass, shrubs and small bushes are visible. I set this to 7.
– Reflection draw distance: Controls the shininess of various objects and surfaces. Skyrim’s Specularity settings, thus Enderal’s, tend to have very little effect on anything.
– Details on distant objects: Controls the level of detail placed on distant objects such as hills and mountains. I set this to Very High.
– Field of view: Adjusts your visual perspective of the game world. I leave this at the default value of 75. Many prefer 80.

From this point non-mod manager users can begin to play Enderal and get it’s intended experience. If you decide to add mods directly to the Data folder, at any point, you can adjust their load order within the Data Files option at the right of the Enderal Launcher Menu. Mod manager users have some more work to do.
Mod Organizer Users
Nexus Mod Manager users can skip to the Nexus Mod Manager Users section.
Copy .ini’s
As previously mentioned Enderal’s .ini files are the same as Skyrim’s. Since we adjusted our in-game settings outside of Mod Organizer, which was done for the sake of tutorial fluidity, to not have to readjust them we must perform a quick additional step. You only have to do this now and never again.
Navigate to:
:UsersDocumentsMy GamesSkyrim
Copy the Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini. Paste them to your Desktop. Close the My Games directory. We will deal with these files in a moment.
Rename Skyrim – copy
Navigate back to the Skyrim – copy folder. Right-click it. Rename it Enderal. All free pc games.
Parallel Installations
As said at the beginning of this guide Mod Organizer users are the only persons able to run both Skyrim and Enderal at the same time without having to uninstall one or the another. How are we able to do this? … by installing a second copy of Mod Organizer. …or a first copy if you are only using Mod Organizer for Enderal. I am not going to redo the entire Mod Organizer Installation and Setup tutorial in this video. A link is provided to that guide in the description for those who never installed M.O. before. What I am going to show you here are the specific steps to perform for Enderal. I suggest that new M.O. users pause this video now, watch the entire Mod Organizer Installation video without installing it yet, then continue you onward from this point. Take things slow and you will do fine.
Enderal is installed. Skyrim is still installed. Enderal is ready to be played and modded.
Nexus Mod Manager Users
Mod Organizer users can skip to the Updating Enderal section of the guide.
I saw the welsh revival pdf. From 1850 onwards was markedly less in form.
Preparing to Mod
Since you already have Nexus Mod Manager installed you will most likely have Skyrim mods installed as well. Since N.M.M. installs mods directly to the Data folder those mods will have been removed and saved within the backup that Enderal created. However, due to how Nexus Mod Manager handles mods, N.M.M. will still think that those mods are installed even though they are not. To avoid issues we are going to create a new Profile:
Open N.M.M. Open the Profile drop-down menu. Select New Profile.
a. Users who never created a profile before: If you have never created a profile, thus all of your current mods are installed to the Nexus Mod Manager default profile, select Rename Profile. Name this new profile Skyrim.
b. All users: Open the Profile drop-down menu (again if need be). Create a New Profile. Name it Enderal. With the Enderal Profile activated go through the Mods tab and deactivate each and every mod. Do NOT delete them.
You now have a clean and unmodded foundation to begin modding Enderal from. Do not use any of your Skyrim profiles to play Enderal. Only use the Enderal Profile or new ones that you may create. When installing mods for Enderal do so via Nexus Mod Manager the same way that you would when playing Skyrim.
Launching Enderal
Even though you are using Nexus Mod Manager to mod Enderal you will not use N.M.M. to launch it.
Navigate to:
SteamsteamappscommonSkyrim
Locate the Enderal Launcher.exe . Right-click it. Send a Shortcut to Desktop. When launching the game do so from this shortcut. Some users may need to run it as admin for it to work. It is likely that those using Vortex, after Vortex is released, will follow the same procedure. Though, since Vortex is still being developed at this time I can only speculate. If anyone confirms this I’ll add the information to the pinned comment and or description.
Updating Enderal
Whether you are using Mod Organizer, Nexus Mod Manager or anything else the procedure for updating Enderal is the same. Launch the game from the Enderal Launcher.exe that is found in the game folder. Do NOT launch it from within your mod manager or it will cause unneeded complications. Select the Enderal Update message in the Launcher window. Select the large download now! button. Allow the update some time to do what it needs to.
If the launcher itself has an update you will need to download it from Enderal.com. After the new launcher is downloaded place it into the game folder and overwrite the old one.
Reverting Back to Skyrim
Mod Organizer users only need to watch this section if you want to delete Enderal entirely from your system.
From the game folder, double-click the Enderal Launcher.exe . Select Change Installation. Select Uninstall Enderal. At the Preparation uninstallation window we have two options:
Once you have made a choice select Start Uninstallation. Once you have made it to the Uninstallation completed page select the Do not delete option if you plan on playing Enderal again. This will allow you to not have to redownload the Enderal Launcher and archive. Enderal is now uninstalled.
Nexus Mod Manager Profile
Nexus Mod Manager users be sure to switch your profile back to your Skyrim one or you won’t be able to play your saves.
Reverting Back to Enderal
For those who archived Enderal for future use, which is the only way to revert back to your old playthroughs, go through the Installation process as normal. When you arrive at the Choose your installation type page be sure to activate the Restore Enderal option. Leave everything else the same as it is clicking through the options. Skyrim will then be placed into the backup folder and the process repeats.

Minecraft is a sandbox multiplayer game that is really popular among gamers from around the world because it lets you go above and beyond your imagination and be as much creative as you possibly can. In this game you build anything you want with blocks. You can create cities, castles, countries, kingdoms, etc. Everything is possible in the world of Minecraft. However, some gamers were not content with the unlimited amount of stuff available in the world of Minecraft so they went ahead and created different mods to augment the world of Minecraft even further and add extra features to the overall gameplay. There are countless different mods out there for Minecraft, but almost all of them can be installed easily depending on the version of your Minecraft game.
There is not one simple way of installing a mod for Minecraft because there are different Minecraft mods so there are many different ways of installation for each different mod. However, you can still install many different mods by using simple installation methods that we have mentioned below.
Note: Before you go any further and install any mods on your Minecraft game, just make sure to back up any worlds that you have already saved on your game. If anything should ever go wrong with your installation then you will still have a working backup of your entire game saved on your hard disk.
Method 1: The Easier way to Install Mods
The first method involves using the Minecraft Forge software. This is a simple mod for Minecraft, however, instead of modifying the game entirely this one lets you install different mods for Minecraft easily by using the Forge software. You will need some Forge compatible mods to install for your game. Follow the method below to install Minecraft Forge on your computer.
- Head over to the Official Minecraft Forge Website.
- Download the specific version for your specific version of Minecraft.
- Get the recommended version of Minecraft Forge to be on the safe side.
- Now, find the downloaded file and install the client on your computer.
To check if Minecraft Forge has been successfully installed, Launch Minecraft and look in the drop-down profiles menu. You should now have a new “Forge” profile in the list which means that Forge has been successfully installed on your computer and detected by your Minecraft game.
Now, in order to install mods on your Minecraft game by using forge, you need to download some mods that are compatible with the Forge software. You can find mods on Google, make sure that you read the official developer website of the mod to find out if the mod is compatible with Forge or not. Once you download the mod, find the downloaded zip file of the mode and Copy/Paste it in Mods folder that is available inside the /minecraft folder created by Forge software.
Launch Minecraft and you will find the installed mods under the Mods menu section. You can select your preferred mod and start playing your favorite game with the best mods installed.
Method 2: The Harder Way to Install Mods
This is more of a direct approach to installing mods for Minecraft that’s why it’s a little bit complex than the previous method. There’s always a chance of damaging your saved worlds when using the direct method so it’s always better to backup all your files before performing any mod related function on your game.
1. First of all, locate the Minecraft folder where all the important files are stored. You can find it at C:Usersuser nameAppDataRoaming.minecraft, Once you have located this folder make sure that you can find an archive file named minecraft.jar. This is the file that needs to be modified in order to run your mods.
2. Now download the mod that you want to install in Minecraft. Also, make sure to have an archive utility installed on your computer (7zip or WinZip or recommended). You will need an archive utility to unzip the minecraft.jar archive file.
3. Unarchive the minecraft.jar archive and extract all the files. Now install the mod. The installation instructions vary by each mod but mostly it involves unarchiving the mod archive and moving all the content into the minecraft.jar file.
4. Before you can go launch Minecraft and enjoy your mods. You have to get rid of the META-INF folder. This folder is also located in the same directory as Minecraft. Just delete it. You have to delete it because it keeps Minecraft from running any mods. So if you want to run any mods on Minecraft then you will have to remove this folder for good.
5. Launch Minecraft. If you followed each step carefully then Minecraft should start and the mod automatically starts running along with Minecraft. You can now enjoy your modded Minecraft game.
Where to find Minecraft mods?

If you're wondering how to download the Skyrim mod Enderal: Forgotten Stories on PC, and what else you might need and, then look no further. Enderal: Forgotten Stories is a total conversion mod for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim on PC. This essentially means it takes Skyrim and turns it into an entirely new game using the same engine. Enderal has its own lore, there's 30-120 hours worth of content, and best of all.. it's completely free! Here's everything you need to know about the game including how to download Enderal: Forgotten Stories and what you need to get started.
How to download Enderal: Forgotten Stories Skyrim mod
Enderal is completely free to download, but there's one pre-requisite you need before you get started. You have to have The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim purchased and installed on the same machine, because Enderal uses the core Skyrim engine. This means that gameplay-wise, Enderal is pretty much Skyrim but with a brand new story, characters, enemies.. it's like if Skyrim wasn't Skyrim but also was Skyrim at the same time.
To download Enderal: Forgotten Stories, first make sure Skyrim installed, then head to the Enderal: Forgotten Stories steam page. Click 'Install Now' underneath where it says 'Community-Made Mod', then wait for it to download. It's just under 14GB so make sure you've got enough room.
When it's downloaded and installed, you can boot it up directly from your Steam library without having to load Skyrim first. It will launch a small window first where you can adjust all of the settings, before booting up the full game.
That's all there is to it. Play around with the settings to find the optimal ones for your machine, then get started exploring the world of Enderal: Forgotten Stories.
After 80 hours of playing vanilla Fallout 4, I’ve decided that it’s time for mods. Here’s how you can join me.
Before we get started with the instructions, I want to point out that modding Fallout 4 is simple, but it will get easier as time goes on. Publisher Bethesda has yet to release its official modding tools for its latest open-world hit. We should get that next year along with Steam Workshop support. Steam Workshop is how Valve enables developers and the community to instantly plug add-ons into games natively through Steam. This enables players to click the “subscribe” button on a workshop page in Steam to instantly add mods. But even when that happens for Fallout 4, the process I’m about to go over should always work.
Let’s get to it:
Installing mods
Finding and downloading mods
- First, you’ll need to find mods that you want to use with Fallout 4.
- The most trusted site right now is Nexus Mods.
- Pick a mod like Lowered Weapons, and click on the “Files” tab.
- Click the “download manually” link.
- Save the file to your desktop or a Fallout 4 mods folder.
Minecraft Forge
Above: Nexus Mods is a great resource.
Extracting and installing mods
- Go to the folder you downloaded the mods to.
- Use a program like WinRAR to extract the downloaded files into a new folder.
- Use the “Extract to …” option to ensure that files don’t get lost or disorganized.
- Go into the new folder and copy the applicable files.
- Generally, you’ll want to copy the entire folder (Meshes in the Lowered Weapons example).
- Find your Fallout 4 install location, which is typically: C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappscommon
- Paste the copied folder into Fallout 4’s “Data” folder.
- If it asks you to replace or merge files, hit “yes.”
Editing the .ini file
- Finally, you need to edit the .ini file to teach Fallout 4 to look for mods.
- Find the .ini file, which is almost always here: C:Users*USERNAME*Documentsmy gamesFallout4
- Right click on Fallout4.ini and select Edit.
- Hit CTRL+F and search the file for this: “sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS”
- In the case of Lowered Weapons, add “, MESHES” to the end of that line.
- It should now read: “sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS, MESHES”
- Go to file and Save As and replace the current .ini file.
- Keep in mind that it won’t always be “, MESHES” that you’ll need to add. It depends on the name of the file that you add to Fallout 4’s Data folder.
Now, all you have to do is boot up the game and enjoy. Let us know if you have any issues.
